Access to clean, reliable water – Project Completed!
Access to clean, reliable water should be a basic right, but for many, it’s still a daily challenge.
In October 2025 we successfully completed a new water project at Chamukwenjera Primary School in Chivhu, Zimbabwe!
Thanks to the incredible generosity of the students, parents, and staff of Elckerlyc School in Leiderdorp, and our loyal Friends of Zimbabwe supporters, we were able to raise enough funds to drill a new borehole and install a solar-powered water pump on the school grounds.
What We’ve Achieved
A reliable borehole, drilled with guidance from local experts to ensure a strong, year-round water supply (we eventually reached 80 meters to find the best water source!)
A solar-powered pump, which draws water sustainably from the borehole
A trench and piping system leading to a large storage tank, ensuring water is always available for students and the surrounding community
Why a Solar Pump?
Reliable – works even during power cuts
Sustainable – powered by free solar energy
Low-maintenance & cost-effective – no fuel needed
This project now ensures that the school and the surrounding community have consistent access to safe and reliable water. A huge step forward for education, health, and daily life.
